Yen

Yen is pronounced as en, not yen. I will be posting the current currency of Japanese money. Since in google, and many sites post currency that is no longer valid. For example; Some on google were valid until 1990's. In this blog, lets forget about the economy rate, if it's high or low. I will write so it will be easier to understand, and that will be the fair, and normal rate. Normal? Normal as in lets pretend there no such thing as rate exchange. Warning the examples are not the real rates, just for easy learning, and it actually changes every year.

100 yen is 1 dollar coin. 100 円 = $1.00 The dollar coin is silver colour. Yes! A dollar coin. While in the U.S. is made out of paper, other countries, I have not much knowledge, in Japan is a coin. I know many people that had mention they deeply hate carrying coins. In Japan you have to have coins on you if you buy something that cost lower than 1000 yen. Even if you don't carry it, when you get your change you will get coins. In the end you will carry coins with you anyway.

500 yen = 500 円

500 yen is equal to 5 dollars. 500 円 = $5.00. It's also the colour silver. It haves a 5 on it, why doesn't it have a hole? Because as a mentioned before the hole is only designed for cents that have 5 not dollars. As I said you can't escape from the coins, and no there's not a 5 dollar paper in Japanese yen.

Paper Dollar Yen
